About us
In 2014, the Global Diaspora Village (GDV) made its mark as a vibrant cultural and commercial showcase during the Commonwealth Games in
Glasgow. The event brought together diaspora communities, international exhibitors, and local Glaswegians in a celebration of diversity, innovation, and unity. With over 250 exhibitors, a Guinness World Record choir attempt, and thousands of attendees, GDV became a landmark moment in diaspora engagement.
As Glasgow prepares to host the Commonwealth Games once again in 2026, we are proud to announce the return of GDV – re imagined,
expanded, and more impactful than ever with anticipated foot trafic of between 650,000 – 700,000. This year’s event will be delivered in partnership with Heart for the City, a local charity with deep roots in Glasgow’s community development, and Fire for Scotland, a new Christian
initiative focused on spiritual renewal and missionary outreach across Scotland.

The village will host a variety of events throughout the games, ranging from international trade fairs to vibrant cultural events, all aimed at strengthening ties and promoting mutual understanding among diverse populations.
The GDV will also emphasize sustainability and inclusivity, ensuring that its infrastructure and programs are accessible to all. By integrating green technologies and fostering an environment of learning and sharing, GDV will not only highlight the achievements of diaspora communities but also contribute to a more harmonious and interconnected global society.
